Learning Abilities of Organizations
How adaptive are organizations in the first instance? How do they learn? We approach these questions with a perspective derived from the theory of evolution. The central issue is what mechanisms does an organization develop over time to create a balance between external drivers and necessary internal changes.
We know from experience that organizations distinguish between impulses that confirm their own inability to learn and impulses that trigger evolutionary changes. We have not been able to determine concepts and theories that help to explain these mechanisms. How the company’s potential for self-renewal can be developed and influenced is the subject of our research. We are convinced that a "non-adaptive organization" does not exist.
