Paving the way for something new: It’s all about how systems in need of change can be set in motion and how the energy that they often channel into defense and persistence, despite better judgment, can be released. The aspect I find particularly fascinating is the evolution of something which was previously impossible and the disappearance of borders, paving the way for something new. I see myself as a supporter of these kinds of processes, as someone who paves the way for something new.

Opening up to the unforeseeable: Our desire to gain control over the inevitable often prevents us from developing, as we are no longer open to surprises. Having a future means learning to keep an open mind to the unexpected. Leadership means making decisions on the basis of sound plans and then inquisitively finding out when and where new plans and decisions are called for. Everything revolves around this interplay of creation and discovery which, on the one hand, puts the demand for planning and control into perspective and on the other, elevates it to a fine art.
